Actually, I’m Starting to Feel Patriotic
I'm spoiled by domestic tourism
dependable transportation, cheap lodging
safe, monumental suburbs
I only worry, as I set off: what if
my nomadism interferes with my writing discipline?
Not a chance!
I don’t know if it’s fate or coincidence
that near almost every apartment complex
is a school
where while I listlessly tap at my keyboard in the morning
the loudspeakers play cheery background music
I thought it was the national anthem!
