Walking at Night
When I go walking at night
sometimes my steps begin to drag
as if I’m trawling a net behind me
its contents growing heavier and heavier
this is what I’m afraid of
in the morning
if I let the net slip from my shoulders
who will accept
my harvest of dark things?
