Join us for an engaging panel discussion featuring Professor Liang Sun, the director of The Experimental Theatre Troupe at The Central Academy of Drama, and her team. She will be in conversation with Xunnan Li, one of the deputy directors of The Leeds Centre for New Chinese Writing, to explore the pivotal role of “Text” in theatre production in China and the global Sinophone world. The discussion will cover three main topics: textual selection, adaptation from page to stage, and copyright issues in theatre production.

Professor Liang Sun has won numerous awards as the manager of the theatre troupe and has worked closely with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China to promote theatre cultural policies. Her monographs, including Theatre Management 《剧院团管理》and Marketing Arts and Culture《文化艺术市场营销》, have received significant recognition in the fields of cultural industry studies and theatre management in China. She was also the first to translate Donald C. Farber’s book Producing Theatre: A Comprehensive Legal and Business Guide into Chinese. With decades of experience at the Central Academy of Drama, Professor Sun brings extensive insights into theatre management, performance industries, and cultural industries as both a scholar and practitioner.
