Austin Woerner: "Cultural Resonance: Translating the Landscapes of the Imagination"

For the first of our Centre's Research Salon series in 2023, we're delighted to welcome Austin Woerner to discuss both his translation practice and his academic work.

Austin is a lecturer in English and Creative Writing at Duke Kunshan University and previously taught at the Sun Yatsen University in Guangzhou. His published translations include two volumes of poetry, Doubled Shadows: Selected Poetry of Ouyang Jianghe and Phoenix, and a novel, The Invisible Valley, by Su Wei. From 2011 to 2014 he served as English translation editor for the innovative, bilingual Chinese literary journal Chutzpah!
