We're looking forward to welcoming authors Lijia Zhang and Yan Ge for this event focusing on fiction and gender in China. The event will feature talks, readings, and discussion.

Lijia Zhang is a writer, journalist, and public speaker. Her book Socialism is Great! A Worker's Memoir of the New China is published by Atlas & Co. and Penguin Random House, and her debut novel Lotus was published in 2017. Lijia will be our Author of the Month for our bookclub in February.

Yan Ge is an Author Ambassador for the Leeds Centre for New Chinese Writing. Her novel《我们家》(2013), was translated as The Chilli Bean Paste Clan by Nicky Harman  and published in 2018 by Balestier Press, and her work appears in Being Various: New Irish Short Stories. She is currently one of the judges for the International Dublin Literary Award. Yan Ge was Author of the Month for our bookclub in May 2018.

There will be refreshments provided, and a bookstall from Blackwells Books.
