Research Salon with Dr Hu Zhiyue: Cross-Media Adaptations of Journey to the West

We are delighted to welcome Dr Zhiyue Hu from Nanjing University, to present at our fortnightly series of informal research salons. Zhiyue will be sharing her research and leading discussion on the topic of Cross-Media Adaptations of Journey to the West, with a special focus on Asianization and how it decentred the 'source' of adaptation. 

Dr Zhiyue Hu holds the position of Associate Research Fellow at Nanjing University, China. She gained her PhD in Drama at the University of Exeter, UK. Her research interests cover performance of cultural identities, performance pedagogies, cross-cultural adaptations, and media convergence. She is also a member of the East Asian performance collective Ming Strike.

About our salon series: Our research salons are designed to be informal spaces with the focus on discussion, helping people "to prepare for the coffee breaks in conferences" (often the most rewarding parts of a conference, but where it becomes crucial to present your work and engage in discussions about research succinctly, confidently and without props, and sometimes while balancing a hot drink!).
