Lines of Transport: The Chengdu-Leeds Poetry Exchange

A major convention of poets from China and the UK, for three full days of poetry readings, discussion roundtables, translation workshops and cultural exchange. The UK side is co-organised by Poetry@Leeds, the Leeds Centre for New Chinese Writing, and the Global Research Development Office.

Participating poets in the Leeds/UK delegation include Kimberly Campanello, John Whale, Simon Armitage (UK poet laureate), Haisui Yu, Caitlin Stobie, Zaffar Kunial, Jess Richards, Helen Mort and Shara McCallum.

Participating poets in the Chengdu/PRC delegation include Bai Hua 柏桦, Xi Chuan 西川, Jidi Majia 吉狄马加, Li Shaojun 李少君, Wang Jiaxin 王家新, Hu Xian 胡弦, Chen Xianfa 陈先发, Li Yuansheng 李元胜, Yang Ke 杨克, Na Ye 娜夜, Lu Ye 路也, Shu Cai 树才, Gong Xuemin 龚学敏,  Yang Jian 杨键, and Lin Xue 林雪.

The team of poetry translators will be led by Yang Anwen, Bai Hua and Austin Woerner. The Leeds Centre for New Chinese Writing will be represented by Frances Weightman.
