We're delighted to welcome one of China's most influential contemporary poets to Leeds. Xi Chuan is the author of several collections of poetry, including Notes on the Mosquito, translated by Lucas Klein (New Directions, 2012). His honours include the Lu Xun Prize for Literature, the Modern Chinese Poetry Award, and the Zhuang Zhongwen Prize for Literature. He teaches at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and lives in Beijing, China.
Xi Chuan will be reading some of his work, and there will also be a discussion on poetry and translation.
Thank you to the Bi'an UK Chinese Writers' Network, the Manchester Literary Festival, and the University of Manchester Confucius Institute for their support with this event.
The event is free and open to all, but please register on our Eventbrite page.
Refreshments will be provided.
